Our State Constitution establishes the truth that our rights are God given. No President, no Governor, no State, no individual grants us our rights; only God. As a Nation and as a State, we cannot acknowledge the One who grants our rights and deny His role in our government. In this great nation we have the freedom of religion, which I will honor to the highest degree, but in no way will I refrain from standing for my Lord Jesus Christ. You have that same freedom, no matter what religion you practice.
It is important to understand that we have the "freedom of religion" but that fact does not imply that we have to be "free from religion". I am so thankful that I live in a country where I can profess my Savior and I can stand for those principles that I hold dear. Though I am far from perfect, my integrity, character, and strength are founded in God's Word.
As a result, I believe that life begins at conception and I will fight for the rights of the unborn. I believe in the Biblical view of marriage between only a man and a woman. I believe in the Church's role in compassion and the government's separation from such.
This is who I am. I respect the differing views of others, but I must be truthful about my values. I have never known greater peace than knowing Christ, and I hope that others have or will soon find that peace.
