Congresswoman Janice Hahn released the following statement marking the eleventh anniversary of war in Afghanistan:
Today marks the 11th anniversary of the ongoing war in Afghanistan. Since we entered the war on October 7th, 2001, hundreds of thousands of our bravest men and women have endured the horrors of war and too many of their families have experienced unimaginable loss. Last month we surpassed a sobering benchmark in the war -- 2000 American military casualties since the war's beginning-- and unfortunately that number continues to climb.
Despite the distractions of the campaign season, we cannot let this anniversary go by unnoticed. Today we must remember the sacrifices that our troops have made and the toll that eleven years of war have had on our country. It is time to bring these brave men and women home to their families and it is time to bring this war to an end.
