In the two terms I have served in the Nevada State Assembly, I have had the opportunity to vote on legislation to bring thousands of new jobs to Nevada. Those efforts to attract new industry and high-paying, stable jobs to our state continue.
But there is so much more we need to do, not only continue to expand our economy, but also to provide job security and good, safe working conditions for Nevada workers.
▪ In addition to bringing new businesses to our state, we need to ensure our existing small businesses succeed.
▪ We must foster the growing IT sector by building up IT service centers, such as customer service, while cultivating high-end IT businesses in the form of e-commerce and software as a service.
▪ We should work to transform Las Vegas into the regional hub for distribution and operations, including warehousing, air cargo, and freight transportation.
▪ With too many workers still struggling to make ends meet, we need to raise Nevada's minimum wage, ensure equal pay for equal work, and create an earned sick leave bank.
