U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) today released the following statement on the nation's September jobs report, which showed only 114,000 jobs created:
"With the unemployment rate still significantly higher than promised by the Obama Administration, Ohio is living through the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression, and there is still much work to be done to get people back on their feet.
"Unfortunately, we continue to see a low workforce participation rate, meaning that for every job created over the past 4 years, 6 people have left the workforce."
"Washington's pattern of spending, taxing and regulating has failed to turn our economy around and create jobs; it is time to head in a new direction and pursue pro-growth policies that encourage businesses to grow and create jobs, jump-start our economy and ensure America's best days are ahead of us."
