Our budgeting process is broken. Why would we allow our state budget to grow each year even if our costs and population do not? We need to look at what we have to spend then set our priorities, spend and invest where our communities can get the most benefit.
The budgeting process is confusing. Each year we hear from the media that we have a budget shortfall when what we really have is a decrease in the rate of growth. We never actually spend less.
Most of all we need jobs. Does that mean we need the state government to create more jobs? No. We need them remove barriers to success of our businesses. Allow the lack of an income tax, low cost of living, and investment opportunities to speak for themselves. While not overlooking the need to diversify our economy, we need to focus and promote our current industries that are in our state. We have many core industries in Nevada that will invest and grow if we can strengthen their confidence in Nevada's fiscal and regulatory stability.
We need strong Nevadans to go to Carson City and serve as citizen legislators that are willing to stand up for what we know is right.
