Senator Blunt: When Millions of Americans Stop Looking for Work, That's Not a Real Recovery

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement today regarding the September 2012 jobs report:

"When unemployment numbers go down because millions of Americans have stopped looking for work, that's not a real recovery. The nation added fewer jobs in September than it did in August, and fewer jobs in August than in July. If the same number of people were looking for jobs now as were when President Obama was sworn into office, the unemployment rate would be nearly 11 percent.

"This jobs report is just another important reminder that we must pass pro-growth policies to provide certainty for job creators to expand their businesses and hire more people -- not settle for the status quo as millions of Americans give up on trying to find jobs."
