Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) released the following statement after receiving the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence. This award recognizes Congressman Cantor's commitment to policies that boost economic growth and create jobs:
"American manufacturers are beginning to feel more confident towards the future given the innovations that make our nation a global leader. But when I meet with local manufacturers in Virginia, they tell me that in order to increase our competitiveness, Washington must get out of the way. Faced with increasing uncertainty, higher taxes and burdensome red tape they are reluctant to expand, grow or hire new workers. Now more than ever, we need to unleash America's entrepreneurial spirit to get us back on track and create jobs. I am honored to receive this award from NAM and will continue to fight for lower taxes and smarter regulations so our manufacturers can compete and succeed."
NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons added, "Manufacturers today compete in a global marketplace. It is critical that Washington creates policies to keep us competitive and maintain our mantle of economic leadership. Congressman Cantor understands this and has consistently supported the pro-manufacturing agenda through his votes in Congress."
