Statement on the Killings of Innocent Americans in Libya

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27) had the following remarks in reaction to the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Libya, resulting in the death of four Americans including U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens.

"Yesterday, innocent Americans were brutally and viciously attacked at the U.S. consulate in Libya, a terrifying reminder of the dangers we face in a post 9/11 world. The killing of U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, and two other consular staff, remind us that there are those in the world, who for whatever reason, mean us harm.

"It is important for our government to ensure those responsible for these heinous crimes are held accountable and continue to improve the security of those who serve us abroad. My prayers go out to the families in their time of mourning."
