After numerous investigations into waste and mismanagement at state agencies, in early 2010 Klein launched the Senate Taskforce on Government Efficiency. The taskforce's goal is to probe misuse of taxpayer funds at state agencies -- whether identifying excessive overtime costs or redundant and unnecessary administrative practices -- in order to put taxpayer money to better use and improve New York's fiscal health.
Klein's record also includes:
* Landmark laws to crack down on uncollected taxes for cigarettes sold to New Yorkers by Native American reservations -- costing the state more than $500 million in lost tax revenue every year.
* Allowing for Racinos to expand hours of operation and offer new video lottery games in order to generate millions more education dollars for New York State.
