For the second year in a row, Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) has served as honorary host of the Missouri Business Conference at the University of Central Missouri, bringing together successful small businesses owners with students and other aspiring entrepreneurs. More than 250 business leaders and entrepreneurs took part in this year's gathering, networking with others and gaining valuable information to help their businesses grow. During five panel discussions, participants heard from experts on topics including Planning to Start a Business, Generating Revenue, Targeting Revenues, Being Prepared and Networked, and Increasing Processes and Decreasing Costs.

"At a time when unemployment has been above 8 percent for 43 consecutive months and many businesses are failing, this is an ideal time for current business owners to learn the best practice techniques to help strengthen their businesses," said Hartzler. "Conferences of this kind also give young entrepreneurs access to the expertise from business leaders who are running successful enterprises, generating revenues, and hiring Americans."

"Talking to these entrepreneurs and business owners, I am encouraged that they want to grow and hire -- they just need government to get out of the way by reducing the federal government's burdensome regulations," continued Hartzler. "I shared that I have supported several bills to eliminate the many hurdles to business success to allow businesses to flourish and grow our economy. I will continue to fight for job creation."

"I thank the University of Central Missouri and UCM President Charles Ambrose for hosting this event," added Hartzler. "I am pleased that so many small business owners and entrepreneurs took advantage of this wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas."

Congresswoman Hartzler, a small business owner, is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Agriculture Committee.
