Farm Bill Now Rally

Statement

I joined hundreds of farmers and ranchers and fellow members of Congress at a Capitol rally Wednesday to urge Republican House Leaders to bring the five-year farm bill to a vote. The Senate has already passed a five-year farm bill and the House Agriculture Committee passed a bipartisan five-year farm bill in July but the House has yet to vote on the legislation. I simply can't understand why these guys won't take yes for an answer and are choosing to play politics with the farm bill. The rally was a good start but we need the grassroots to step up their efforts and keep making phone calls and sending e-mails to their representatives and Congressional leaders. I don't think they're feeling the pressure to get this bill done and without that I worry that we won't be able to pass the farm bill this year.
