Senator Wendell Ford today joined Congressman Ben Chandler to discuss the importance of protecting Medicare with seniors. During an event at the Lexington Senior Center, Ford and Chandler spoke to a crowd of more than 60 local seniors.
"Ben Chandler is someone seniors can trust to protect Medicare," Senator Ford said. "Andy Barr just doesn't get it. We have earned and paid into Medicare, and it's not right to cut those benefits. Central Kentucky is lucky to have Ben Chandler to stand up to those like Barr who want to gut Medicare to give tax breaks to millionaires."
"If there's one thing I've heard over and over while visiting with seniors across Central Kentucky, it's that Medicare and Social Security are just too important to take away," said Chandler. "Kentuckians have earned these benefits through a lifetime of hard work. My record shows that I've always fought to protect Medicare, not only for today's seniors but for future generations as well."
This morning's visit was the latest stop in Chandler's tour of senior centers across Central Kentucky. Chandler stopped by McCready Manor in Richmond earlier this week.
