Gov. Perry Renews Call for Permanent Small Business Tax Exemption at Google for Entrepreneurs Day

Gov. Rick Perry spoke at Google for Entrepreneurs Day, and renewed his call to make the small business tax exemption permanent in the upcoming legislative session. The governor also highlighted his commitment to bolstering Texas' culture of innovation, entrepreneurship and job creation by strengthening the conservative fiscal principles that have helped the state prosper.
"Entrepreneurs know they can pursue and achieve their dreams in Texas because we've created an environment where government stays out of the way, where freedom fuels innovation, and innovation is fueling the next generation of entrepreneur," Gov. Perry said. "By staying committed to the responsible fiscal policies that have made Texas the best place to live, work, raise a family and start a business, we will continue to be the envy of the nation."
Ahead of the 2013 legislative session, Gov. Perry has called on lawmakers to commit to the principles outlined in the Texas Budget Compact, including opposing any new taxes or tax increases and making the small business tax exemption permanent. The compact's sound conservative policies are:
* Practice Truth in Budgeting
* Support a Constitutional limit of spending to the growth of population and inflation
* Oppose any new taxes or tax increases, and make the small business tax exemption permanent
* Preserve a strong Rainy Day Fund
* Cut unnecessary and duplicative government programs and agencies
Google for Entrepreneurs Day was made possible through a partnership between the City of Austin Small Business Development Program and Google. The event included information on connecting with the online community, new tools to reach and engage new audiences and networking opportunities.
