Issues: Infrastructure

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after teaming with the City of Crowley in securing and claiming $600,000.00 in funding to develop an Interstate 10 service road between exits 80 and 82. The project will create jobs, attract new businesses, and enhance infrastructure near the interstate:

"I'm happy to have teamed up with local officials in Crowley to ensure these funds were not forgotten and will be utilized for their intended purpose: to enhance infrastructure in Crowley. The City of Crowley worked hard to receive this funding by putting up twenty percent of the construction costs and all pre-construction expenses toward this project. The funds will stimulate the regional economy by creating construction jobs for the project. In addition, once the road is complete, commercial development is set to expand on the site with several small businesses already committing to open there. These are the types of results constituents in South Louisiana should be proud to see.

"Credit must be given to local officials with the City of Crowley for showing such diligence in reaching out to my office and forming a coalition to secure the funding. Working in conjunction with the Department of Transportation, the Governor's office, and the Federal Highway Administration, these officials did a fantastic job," stated Boustany.

Mayor Greg Jones of the City of Crowley added, "I'd like to thank Congressman Boustany for all the hard work and effort his office put forth in this matter. When you keep the lines of communication open and offer help, great things can be achieved. Congressman Boustany does that and this is the result we have to show for it."
