Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana), released the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office announced that 5.9 million American households will be forced to pay a new Obamacare mandate tax:
"This $60 billion tax will penalize millions of low and middle income Americans for not buying expensive Washington-approved health insurance. It's another example of the President breaking his promise not to raise any tax on families making less than $250,000 per year. We need to repeal the 2010 health law, before this new tax increase, and replace it with solutions that actually lower premiums."
Updating its previous estimate, CBO said "About two million more uninsured people are now projected to pay the penalty each year, and collections are now expected to be about $3 billion more per year."
