Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) issued the following statement after the National Security and Job Protection Act passed the House of Representatives:
"This bill reinforces our commitment to preventing the military cuts that the president's own defense secretary has called "catastrophic' and "disastrous.' The House has passed multiple bills to not only replace the sequester with common sense reforms, but to make the process more transparent and bring all parties to the negotiating table. Unfortunately, our attempt to make the necessary distinction between cutting fat and cutting muscle has been met with either veto threats or complete silence from the White House. Unlike Senate Democrats, House Republicans have no intention of pushing our nation over the fiscal cliff, or limiting our military readiness with this dangerous sequester."
