U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-09) released the following statement today, after receiving the first annual "Freedom Fighter" award from FreedomWorks, a grassroots organization committed to less government, lower taxes, and more freedom. FreedomWorks created a scorecard which highlights votes in the U.S. House of Representatives that it believes are important to preserving freedom in our country. During 2011, Rep. Graves earned a perfect score from FreedomWorks, one of only three members in the House to earn a grade of 100%.
"There is no more important task before us than shrinking government, cutting taxes, and preserving liberty. Now, more than ever, conservative policies must be enacted to get our economy back on track, create private sector jobs, and lower the skyrocketing national debt. With millions of Americans discouraged about the prospects of finding a good job, the federal debt now above $16 trillion, and our ability to compete in the global marketplace slipping, it's clear the economic policies of the Obama Administration aren't working and a change of direction is needed. I appreciate FreedomWorks' efforts to recognize those of us in Washington who keep fighting to preserve individual liberty, lower taxes, and unleash the power of the American people."
