Crenshaw Joins House in Formally Recognizing Americans Killed in Libya Attack

Location: Washington, DC

As the United States House of Representatives passed an official resolution honoring the public servants killed in Libya on September 12, Congressman Ander Crenshaw again recognized the service of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans killed in the attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

On September 19, the House, with Crenshaw's support, passed H. Res. 786 honoring Stevens, Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, and Security Personnel and Former Navy Seals Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods. The resolution also condemns the attacks on United States diplomatic facilities in Libya, Egypt, and Yemen.

"In the shadow of the anniversary of the September 11th attacks against the homeland, we woke up to the face of terror and mourned the deaths of four brave countrymen killed in a horrifying attack in Benghazi, Libya," said Crenshaw. "In the fight for freedom and democracy, they selflessly gave up their lives. We move forward as a nation, standing strong in the fight for liberty for all."
