We owe an immeasurable debt to our veterans. As our brave men and women stand up and fight for all of our freedoms, they need to know that Congress will be there to support them every step of the way when they are overseas and when they return home.

We have made promises to our veterans that should never be broken. We should never reduce their healthcare and retirement benefits, and we should assist them with educational opportunities and finding employment. You will never see me vote for a cut in veteran's benefits while in Washington. Our men and women of uniform are the ones that should be getting a pay raise-- not members of Congress. I think it's a slap in the face to our military when Congress votes to give themselves a pay raise and cut veterans benefits to pay for it.

I fully support the G.I. Bill and believe it has helped build this country into what it is today. The thousands of soldiers coming home from Afghanistan and Iraq should be afforded the opportunity to go to college and start or continue their career. This also allows our other college students to interact and learn from those who have developed leadership and integrity through their military service.

When our veterans return from their service overseas, they deserve to have all the help they can in finding a job. I support the current tax credit that incentivizes businesses that hire veterans, and I would support increased opportunitites for our veterans to be able to secure funding to start or invest in their own business endeavors.
