This past weekend, I attended the St Athanasius Citizen Workshop in Long Beach. At the workshop, I was on hand to help constituents fill out the necessary forms and paperwork to become citizens.
On Saturday, September 15th, I attended the City of Carson Mexican Independence Day Celebration. The celebration was great opportunity for the City of Carson to showcase its cultural unity and diversity, and promote community involvement. The event included dance, arts and crafts, food, music and Grammy Award winning Mariachi Divas, Aztec & Folkloric Dancers.
On Saturday, September 15th I attended Let's Move Compton Day, an event inspired by First Lady Obama's Let's Move Initiative that puts children on a path to a healthy future. The event was hosted by Councilwoman Janna Zurita and contained fun activities for children such as Potato Sack Races, double dutch, hula hoop and jump roping contests.
On Saturday, September 15th, I was the guest speaker at the Sophisticated Elderly Luncheon in Long Beach where I gave constituents an update and explanation of the Affordable Care Act and how it can benefit them. The purpose of this annual event was to inform, recognize and entertain seniors in our community and provide them with helpful information that will benefit them.
