U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) today released this statement regarding the Farm Bill.
The House has left town without passing a farm bill leaving farmers and ranchers in a ditch. House Republican leadership would not even bring a farm bill to a vote--failing our agriculture producers.
Their refusal to act is especially irresponsible as a serious drought is hurting South Dakota and the nation's producers. While the House has failed, the Senate showed the way back in June with a responsible, overwhelming bipartisan bill to advance the country's agriculture policy while reducing the deficit.
