Dillant-Hopkins Airport in Keene and Skyhaven Airport in Rochester have both received federal funding for operational improvements through Department of Transportation grants, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) announced today. The Keene airport will receive $4.45 million and the Rochester airport will receive $3.49 million. Both airports will utilize the funds to rehabilitate runways, helping to reduce maintenance costs and ensure operational safety.

These grants were made possible through the long-term authorization of the Federal Aviation Administration, which Senator Shaheen strongly supported.

"These airports are gateways for businesses and consumers in our state and I am pleased that we are making important investments in their infrastructure," Shaheen said. "These funds will create good construction jobs and help grow our economy, while also increasing passenger safety and airport efficiency."

"The airport is a tremendous asset to businesses in Keene and the surrounding region. This grant will help maintain the world-class facilities at the airport, fostering growth in the local economy," said Keene Mayor Kendall Lane.

"Many companies in Keene rely on the airport to do business and these critical federal funds will help us finish a much-needed project that would be difficult for Keene to undertake on its own," said Keene Airport Director Ed Mattern.

"The city of Rochester is very excited to receive this important grant to rehabilitate the runway at Skyhaven Airport," said Rochester Mayor T.J. Jean. "As our economic development efforts continue to gain momentum, it is important we maintain our city's transportation infrastructure. Skyhaven is an asset to our community and these improvements will have a positive impact on the general aviation and business sectors. I am thankful to the local, state, and federal officials who have worked so hard to secure this funding."
