Murkowski: Spending Bill is "Symptom of Stalemate"

Senator Lisa Murkowski tonight cast her vote in favor of a six-month FY2013 continuing resolution to fund federal operations through March 27, 2013, while expressing deep frustration at the U.S. Senate's inability to responsibly oversee the nation's spending:

"This Continuing Resolution is not a solution or a plan; it is a symptom of stalemate on Capitol Hill where Congress cannot work together to provide agencies certainty -- and just as importantly, to exercise oversight of what programs are working and deserve funding and which are failing and need to be reconsidered.

"As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I work on bills and shape federal funding to evolve with our nation's needs and priorities -- this bill is just six months of the status quo.

"I remain committed to working with my colleagues to restore sensible funding to the federal government, and am hopeful they will return to Congress in November ready to get to work."
