Today, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement on H.R. 3409, the Stop the War on Coal Act of 2012, which passed the House with bipartisan support:
"Today, the House acted to stop President Obama's war on coal that threatens jobs and the production of an abundant, affordable and efficient energy resource. America has a supply of coal that will last us more than 250 years. But red tape coming from the Obama Administration will shut down coal-fired power plants and American coal mines, driving up electricity costs and eliminating tens of thousands of jobs. In fact, 1,200 coal jobs were lost last week, including 400 jobs in Virginia. Our bill eliminates harmful regulations to keep electricity affordable for working families and small businesses and preserves good-paying jobs."
