Congressman Joe Barton (R-Arlington/Ennis) released the following statement about the 11th Anniversary of the September 11th Terrorist Attacks:
"It is a day none of us will ever forget. Our nation was attacked by terrorists who hate the liberty upon which our nation was built and the freedom we continue to promote. We responded with resolve and conviction.
"Osama Bin Laden is dead, but the War on Terror isn't over. I remain committed to doing everything possible to make sure that America will never again fall victim to another vicious attack.
"Since 9/11, thousands of Americans have signed up to serve in our military, intelligence community, Homeland Security Department and local police and fire departments. They continue to guard our nation and - despite the enemy's best attempts -- have protected us from more attacks. Today we need to thank them for their dedication.
"Today, 11 years later, as we reflect on the innocent people that were killed and continue to support those they left behind - we should also remember the compassion and kindness that united us then and continues to unite us today."
