This week saw four major bills brought to the House floor. The National Security and Job Protection Act (HR 6365), introduced by Rep. Allen West (R-FL), aids in preventing sequestration from damaging our Armed Forces and our economy. Chairman Fred Upton's (R-MI) No More Solyndras Act (HR 6213) terminates the loan guarantee program that left American taxpayers footing the bill for companies like Solyndra. Both of these bills passed the House with my support.
I also voted for and cosponsored the Stolen Valor Act (HR 1775), authored by Rep. Joe Heck (R-NV), which makes it a crime to knowingly benefit from lies about receiving military awards.
Finally, the House voted for a continuing resolution to fund the federal government for six months, or thru March 27, 2013. I voted against this legislation, as the funding levels were higher than the House-passed budget I voted for earlier this year. However, it did pass the House and is now awaiting action in the U.S. Senate.
