Victory For Voting Rights in Ohio

Press Release

Date: Aug. 31, 2012
Location: Cleveland, OH

Cleveland, Ohio (August 31, 2012) -- Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) made the following statement after a judge in Ohio overturned a state law and allowed in-person early voting leading up to the election in November.

"Today is a good day for our democracy. This is a step in the right direction; but it is the first step, not the last. Evening and weekend hours must be honored in counties which have established them and expanded to those counties which have not," said Kucinich. "Voting is a fundamental building block of our democracy. We must protect that right at all costs."

Congressman Kucinich has fiercely defended the rights of his constituents writing to Secretary of State Husted about the issue and even calling for the Attorney General of the United States to take action.
