Congressman Bill Johnson (R-Marietta) released the following statement today after Wayne National Forest signed off on a plan to allow as many as 13 new natural gas drilling well sites in Wayne National Forest.

"Today's announcement by the Wayne National Forest Supervisor, allowing as many as 13 new natural gas drilling sites, is great news for Southeastern Ohio. Not only will increased natural gas development create much needed jobs right here in Ohio, but it will lower energy prices and take America one step closer to energy independence. Although this is welcome news, the approval of these new natural gas drilling sites should have come much sooner. It was, unfortunately, arbitrarily delayed by the Obama Administration's Forest Service, which set back Ohio's economic recovery by months," said Bill Johnson.

Johnson added, "In order to put America back to work and bring real exceptionalism back to America, we need a true "all of the above' approach to energy - a vision that creates jobs, lowers energy prices, and makes America more energy independent. I support this "all of the above' approach to energy that will bring economic prosperity back to Eastern and Southeastern Ohio."
