During the August Constituent Work Period, Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) toured 80 factories and businesses, hospitals, farms, and met with constituents across the Fifth Congressional District of Ohio. Latta began the work period by touring drought stricken farms in the district, and was joined by Ohio Agriculture Director David T. Daniels for the day. Congressman Latta issued the following statement in regard to his tours:
"As I met with these owners, workers, and managers, I was impressed by the scope and breadth of what is being produced here in the Fifth District. My faith in the American entrepreneurial spirit was greatly reaffirmed by the hard work and ingenuity of these small business owners, who have dedicated their lives and capital, to create innovative products and employ people within their communities.
"With a national unemployment rate that continues to linger above eight percent, bureaucrats in Washington need to understand that government intervention in our nation's businesses, small and large, will not move our current sluggish economy forward. I remain determined to working towards policies that reduce federal spending, cut the excessive red tape on area farms and businesses, and provide incentives for these businesses to grow and create jobs," concluded Latta.
Congressman Bob Latta currently serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, including the Subcommittees on Communications and Technology, Environment and the Economy, and Health. He is a member of numerous congressional caucuses, including Reclaim American Jobs Caucus, the Manufacturing Caucus, and the Congressional High Tech Caucus.
