Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25), Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and United States Congressional Representative to the United Nations, released the following statement regarding yesterday's attacks in Libya and Egypt:
"Today our nation grieves the loss of Ambassador Stevens and the three other American diplomats who were killed in the senseless, deliberate attack in Libya. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims' families and their loved ones at this difficult time.
"The attacks in Libya, as well as those in Egypt, are reprehensible. There is no justification for these acts of violence. In response to these acts of terror our nation must make certain that our allies and our enemies understand that the United States will not tolerate these types of attacks. We must be strong and show true leadership. Our first priority must be the safety of our citizens at both home and abroad."
