Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), senior member of the House Financial Services Committee and immediate past Chair of the Joint Economic Committee, offered the following statement on today's August jobs report which shows a 96,000 job gain during that month:
"The 30th month of job creation in a row shows that continuing progress is being made in regaining the jobs lost during the recession that began in 2008. But much remains to be done, if only both sides of the aisle in the House and Senate could work together to eliminate uncertainty in Washington.
"President Obama and House and Senate Democrats have a clear plan to boost an economy that needs it by investing in our infrastructure, assisting manufacturers and small business, and cutting taxes for the middle class. Today's numbers show that while progress is being made, much more remains to be done."
