Teaching is in my blood. I am the son of public school teachers. My father later was an education professor at Edinboro University. My sister is a college professor. My wife is a public school teacher at Saegertown High School. My son is attending Edinboro University majoring in Elementary and Special Education. I graduated with a degree in Industrial Education from California University of Pennsylvania in 1981. My first job was a long term substitute at Harborcreek High School later I became a full time teacher at General McLane (teaching drafting & design). After 30 years in the construction business I returned to the classroom at Fortis Institute, Erie Campus to run their Construction Management program. I know my way around the classroom.
I am a promoter of public education. I am against any type of voucher system, the privatization of charter or cyber schools and re-imbursement of non-public schools. I believe that good teachers should be rewarded and bad teachers should be removed from the classroom. I believe that the state needs to suspend un-funded mandates to school districts and that the Federal Government needs to relinquish education back to the individual states. Education is about the students ..period.
