My name is Ed Bideau and I'm an AARP Member.
I've always been a strong advocate for seniors, including when I served in the Kansas House from 1985 -- 1988. During that time I chaired a subcommittee that produced the very first Division of Assets bill. This bill changed the Medicaid eligibility requirement for couples in situations where only one spouse needed nursing home care. It allowed the spouse remaining at home to shelter a portion of income and resources to help keep the well spouse in their own home. The spouse needing care could receive Medicaid without the spouse at home being reduced to total poverty.
In my law practice, I help seniors on their legal issues every day. I also volunteer for the Kansas Bar Association's Elder Law Hotline.
I'm asking for your vote on Tuesday, August 7th so that I may protect the rights of seniors in this district.
