This week, we honor the service and sacrifice of Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty who perished in the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya on Tuesday. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and their colleagues.
Like the members of our military forces, Foreign Service officers take extraordinary personal risks and make tremendous sacrifices to protect America's interests abroad. Clearly, we must do a better job of ensuring their security as they perform their critical duties. We also expect that the Libyan government will be full partners in an aggressive prosecution of those responsible for this outrageous attack on our nation.
