On Wednesday August 22nd, Congressman Jon Runyan (R-NJ) toured the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Philadelphia (PVAMC). The Congressman toured many of the newly renovated sections of the facility and had the opportunity to meet with PVAMC staff and their patients.

"This tour will allow me to have the best grasp possible on the issues associated with Veterans' Affairs medical centers for my duties as the Chairman of the Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee," said Congressman Runyan. "Our veterans have sacrificed their blood, sweat, and tears and it is the duty of our nation to provide them with the best care possible. I know the PVAMC has made some great strides in improving the access to care, the care in general, and the facilities. But there is still a lot of work to be done but I know everyone is up to the task. I look forward to working with the VA to ensure the success of these facilities."

The PVAMC provides health care to veterans in Philadelphia and the surrounding area, including Southern New Jersey. With more than 2,000 employees and 145 acute care beds, the facility has enrolled more than 90,000 veterans for healthcare services. In addition to the facility in Philadelphia, the Medical Center also operates Community Bases Outpatient Clinics across the region, including the facility located on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

Congressman Runyan is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, House Veterans Affairs Committee, and the Natural Resources Committee. He also serves as the Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs.
