Today's jobs report is just another blow to the American people. With just 96,000 jobs created, job growth is far below what is needed to keep up with the increase in population. The reduction in the unemployment rate resulted from many Americans simply giving up on finding a job. This month, for every job created, four Americans left the workforce. As a result the percentage of Americans in the workforce is at its lowest level in decades. President Obama's policies have not only failed to improve the economy but have made a bad situation worse by adding trillions to our national debt. As a result this country is on an unsustainable path both economically and fiscally. Now with unemployment over 8 percent for 43 straight months, hardworking Americans are desperate for a turnaround. As a member of Congress I have fought to create an economic environment where the private sector can create jobs and will continue to fight the regulatory burden on our small businesses and do all I can to prevent the looming tax hike on America's families and small businesses.
