Dave Loebsack released the following statement today after members of the Iowa Corn Growers Association announced their endorsement.
"I am honored to have the support of Iowa's Corn Growers. Having walked the rows with farmers across the state, I have had the privilege of seeing firsthand these hardworking men and women producing the best corn in the country. Farmers and rural communities are the backbone of our economy and I will continue to do all that I can to support them.
"Our farmers are currently experiencing the worst drought in over 40 years. I am proud to be leading the effort to help assist those who have been affected, and I will continue to push Congress to pass a reformed farm bill. Farmers need stability in order to make planting decisions. It is time to stop the games. Congress must pass a farm bill, and it must pass it now.
"I will also continue to support initiatives that are vital to ensuring Iowa's Corn Growers can continue to lead the world in corn production."
Mark Recker, a farmer from Arlington, Iowa, and Iowa Corn Growers Association PAC chair, said in a release announcing the endorsement, "Agricultural policy is critical to the future of our farming operations. The Iowa Corn PAC supports our leaders who have demonstrated their support for ICGA policy positions and priorities."
ICGA PAC decisions are made through an objective analysis including candidate responses to our survey, voting records, letters and other quantified evidence of support. The ICGA PAC committee members include farmers from across Iowa, with an equal balance of party affiliation to ensure decisions are based only on corn growers' policies.
