Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement marking the 11th anniversary of the al Qaeda terrorist attacks on the United States:
"Eleven years ago today, our nation's resolve was tested by terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in a field in rural Pennsylvania. Yet, it never wavered. America showed it would not back down against the forces of evil and would rise to the challenge to protect its citizens at home and abroad in the Global War on Terrorism. Our country refuses to cower in fear from terrorist organizations both domestic and foreign.
"As we remember the nearly 3,000 men, women, and children who lost their lives during the tragic attacks on our country on September 11, 2001, I would like to thank members of our military and their families serving to preserve our way of life and freedom. Their service and sacrifice continue to proudly display two of America's greatest attributes: strength and resilience."
