U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, released the following statement today marking the 11th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our nation on September 11, 2001.
"Today marks 11 years since our great nation came under attack at home by foreign terrorists. While years have passed, the events of that day have forever changed our lives. We certainly have not forgotten how it felt that day as we watched our fellow Americans in New York, at the Pentagon, and on the airplanes, be struck with terror. We cannot and will not forget the bravery of the passengers on flight United 93 who sacrificed their own lives to save the lives of others. We also will not forget the bravery and sacrifice of our first responders, and the many other heroes of that day in the World Trade Center buildings and the Pentagon who helped save the lives of others, often at risk of their own.
"My thoughts and prayers remain with the families and friends who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001, with the soldiers on the battlefield fighting today to keep us safe, and with the families and loved ones of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while defending our freedom as we continue to fight the global war on terror."
