U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita today issued the following statement on the unemployment report released this morning by the Labor Department:
"Today's jobs numbers are a big disappointment, but they're not a big surprise. Under this administration, the situation has become so bleak that more than 300,000 Americans simply gave up looking for work last month alone. And yet the administration keeps proposing more of the same failed policies: more spending and debt, more taxes on small businesses and more regulations that stifle economic growth.
"I've worked with my colleagues to outline a better way forward for our employers and workers. We've passed bills to block the president's job-killing tax hikes and to outline comprehensive reforms to our tax code, and through the Red Tape Rollback program, I've targeted specific federal regulations that are crippling Hoosier job creators. As a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, I'll continue working on these and other proven solutions to get government out of the way so our economy can grow again."
