Yesterday, U.S. Congressman Robert J. Dold (R-IL-10) hosted a Federal Budget Workshop with the Concord Coalition. The Concord Coalition is a non-partisan organization dedicated to educating the public about the root causes and long-term consequences of the nation's debt problems. Nearly 100 individuals from around the 10th Congressional District participated in the workshop and put together a plan to reduce the deficit by discussing the importance of various federal programs and whether or not each program should be increased, decreased, or stay at the current funding level.
"We are facing the most predictable crisis facing our nation in decades," said Rep. Dold. "We need to work together and seek common ground to move our country forward. We need to put people before politics and progress before partisanship so that we can put a bipartisan plan in action and address the fiscal cliff facing our nation. This workshop is an opportunity for the public to work together to participate in a proactive dialogue about addressing the fiscal challenges facing us today."
As one of eight original co-sponsors on the only bipartisan budget to reach Congress in decades, Rep. Dold has been recognized for his independent leadership on addressing the nation's fiscal challenges.
