Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa (HI-01), member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement on the 11th anniversary of the September 11th attacks:

"In the years since the September 11th attacks, America has not forgotten those who were lost, or the pain of those who continue to feel the loss of loved ones. Our nation continues to hold you in our thoughts.

"But against the backdrop of those hard memories, the lessons of 9/11 also live on. We know that our nation has an inexhaustible capacity for unity, an ability to extend a hand of support and comfort in trying times. Those things that divide us disappear, replaced by the singular commitment to our country and our communities. We witness bravery--in our first responders, in the men and women who serve in our armed forces, and in everyday Americans who rise to the occasion and exceed every expectation.

"On this somber anniversary, we honor those who lost their lives and continue our pledge to their families. But let us also remember the best of what it means to be American. Our willingness to find common strength. Our capacity to heal. Our commitment to one another."
