Today, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.), a member of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs, issued the following statement on the deadly rocket attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya that claimed the lives of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans:
"I strongly condemn this assault on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi. Ambassador Stevens and his colleagues were part of our effort to help the Libyan people build a bright future after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's oppressive regime. This deadly attack is a chilling reminder to all of us that our fellow Americans in embassies and consulates around the world sometimes serve in harm's way -- and that we need to thank and support them just as we do our brave men and women in uniform. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of Ambassador Stevens and his fellow career foreign service officers who gave their lives serving our country."
