Southerland Reflects on 9-11 Anniversary

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Representative Steve Southerland, II issued the following statement today marking the 11th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks:

"Today, as I joined Republican and Democrat colleagues alike on the steps of the U.S. Capitol for a moment of silence, I was reminded of the unity that held America together when our foundation was shaken to its very core. That most trying of moments revealed the strength of the American spirit and the depth of American resolve.

"As we reflect upon one of the darkest days in American history, our memories of the innocent lives lost continue to shine as brightly as they did 11 years ago. This anniversary provides us with an opportunity to reflect upon the sacrifice of the heroic first responders who risked their lives and to the brave servicemen and women who continue to stand guard over America today. Let us be forever mindful of their selfless acts and never forget those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. We will be forever grateful."
