Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-05) today released the following statement on the eleventh anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks:
"Over a decade ago terrorists attacked our nation and thousands of innocent Americans lost their lives. On that day, we promised ourselves we would never forget, and eleven years later our country has been true to that promise. Today we honor and remember those whose lives were cut tragically short on September 11, 2001. We remember the sacrifices that were made, the families that were torn apart, and the lives that were forever changed.
"But on that day of sadness and tears, there were also incredible acts of heroism, and today we pay tribute to the brave heroes whose actions that fateful day saved the lives of many. We honor their selflessness by marking the anniversary not only as a day of remembrance, but as a day of service."
