Congressman Dan Lungren (R-CA) issued the following statement today regarding the latest unemployment numbers released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
"For 43 straight months, unemployment has continued to hover above 8 percent with only 96,000 jobs created in August. The bleak jobs outlook has caused 370,000 Americans to simply give up looking for work and throw in the towel. That is not a good sign. This morning's labor report is yet another reminder that we must chart a different economic course than the one we are currently traveling.
"Creating an environment that gives American entrepreneurs and business owners the confidence and certainty to expand and hire more people must be priority number one. There has been a good faith effort from the House to address this jobs crisis by passing dozens of pro-growth jobs bills. The Senate continues to ignore these legislative measures. It is time to have a simple up or down vote in the Senate so Congress can resolve the details and can get Americans working again.
"The American people are hurting unnecessarily. It is time for change now."
