On this Labor Day, when we celebrate the vital contributions of the American workforce, it is important to remember that millions of Americans are without work. Unemployment is persistently high and economic growth is weak at best. We are seeing the tragic results of economic policies that have destroyed the confidence of business owners and job creators, saddled our nation with debt and put our nation on a path to fiscal disaster. In times like these, it can be easy to forget that America has all of the fundamental strength it needs to come roaring back economically.
No other nation on Earth enjoys anywhere near the creative talent and flair for entrepreneurship as America. This is still the nation that dreamers, strivers and creators the world over yearn to come to. America is still the most innovative nation on Earth.
What we need now are policies that unshackle America's creative potential and give our job creators the confidence to invest and grow. The House of Representatives has passed more than 30 jobs bills to do just that. Unfortunately, these bills have seen no action from the President, or the Senate. I won't let that apathy and inaction stop me from fighting to cut red tape, reform the tax code and fix our entitlement programs however. For the millions of Americans who don't have a job to go back to tomorrow, I, and every other elected official have a duty to keep fighting for policies that put America back to work.
I hope you've had a wonderful Labor Day weekend, and I look forward to being in touch soon.
