Last night, at an event with hundreds of Mizzou students, the Hensley for Congress campaign introduced the "Students for Hensley" organization designed to organize, register, and communicate with students in Missouri's Fourth Congressional District.
Cass County Prosecutor and Fourth District congressional candidate Teresa Hensley stressed her commitment to job creation and college affordability in her remarks to the students.
"These days college students and recent grads are facing some pretty big challenges and it seems like no one in Congress is looking out for them," said Hensley. "We need to make college more affordable and we need to do more to create jobs and get our economy back on track. If we do nothing to help our college students manage their college debt, we're not giving them the best opportunity to take part in the American dream."
At the event with the University of Missouri students, Hensley released her higher education agenda that established some clear priorities on issues important to college students.
The Mizzou College Democrats at the event endorsed Hensley in the Fourth Congressional District race and students at the event signed up to volunteer on the campaign.
"There is a tendency for politicians to dismiss college students, but we're the next generation of CEOs, entrepreneurs, and even Members of Congress," said Mizzou College Dems Outreach Director Daniel Stribling. "All we want is for someone to listen to us and fight for us. Teresa Hensley gets that. She understands that we're concerned about jobs and the economy just like everyone else and that's why she has our support."
