U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), now in a race for a Senate seat against Republican Tommy Thompson, warmed up the crowd on Sunday by praising Vice President Joe Biden.
She said it was a good thing Biden came Sunday to the National Railroad Museum and not next week.
"Next Sunday, we'll be watching the Packers beat the 49ers," she said to loud applause.
Baldwin said Biden had dedicated his life to public service.
"These are values that are grounded in the belief that everyone deserves a fair shot at the American dream," she said.
Baldwin said the Republican Party, specifically Mitt Romney and Thompson, were wrong for the country.
"Mitt Romney and Tommy Thompson believe we should slash the very investments that we need to move our economy forward, all the while cutting taxes for millionaires and billionaires, and increasing taxes on hard-working middle-class families," she said.
"Their plan is wrong for Wisconsin, and wrong for this nation. And we are going to fight for what's right for the middle class."
