Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva today proudly accepted the endorsement of the National Nurses Union, the country's largest labor organization for nurses. The organization is a leading advocate of guaranteed national health care and represents nurses in all 50 states.
"I couldn't be happier or more grateful to the NNU for their gracious and timely support," Grijalva said. "I'm running for re-election because our work to improve our national health care system has just begun. The Affordable Care Act is the beginning of a truly fair, equitable and effective solution, and with the help of committed groups like NNU, we're going to keep improving the law until it meets the American promise of universal health coverage."
"Congressman Raul Grijalva stands up for patients and nurses and so National Nurses United is proud to stand with him for his re-election to Congress," said Jean Ross, co-president of National Nurses United. "From safe patient staffing to improving and expanding Medicare, to making Wall Street pay us back for the damage they did to Main Street, Mr. Grijalva speaks for nurses and other working people. Our members share with Mr. Grijalva the values of caring, compassion and community; like others in the Third Congressional District, nurses will benefit greatly from his continued leadership."
Grijalva faces a primary vote for re-election to represent the new Third Congressional District on August 28. He has been endorsed by President Barack Obama, 19 other labor unions, former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean, and multiple progressive political organizations.
